American Symphony Orchestra performs a memorial concert on the 25th anniversary of September 11th. While serving as an occasion for remembrance and reflection, the evening’s musical program also celebrates the enduring strength of the human spirit. The majesty of Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, the anguished beauty of Gustav Mahler’s Adagio from the composer’s tenth symphony, the poignancy of George Walker’s Lyric for Strings, and additional scores, together pay tribute to the resilience, dignity, and contributions of ordinary Americans, as well as the courage and sacrifice of the heroes of 9/11.
