Final Friday Slam @ The Loisaida Center

Our Nuyorican Poets Cafe's FINAL FRIDAY SLAM takes place on the last Friday of each month. In 2026, during the last year of our building's #Nuyoricanstruction on East 3rd Street, our monthly slams instead will be held at the nearby Loisaida Center on East 9th Street, in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, NYC. When: Last Friday of each month (January to October 2026) 7:00 PM - Doors Open 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM - Slam & Twilght Open Mic Where: Loisaida Center 710 East 9th Street (between Avenues C & D) New York, NY 10009 (closest subway: L train at 1st Avenue) (closest buses: M9 and M14D-SBS) Tickets: $25 - in-person audience, in advance (buy ticket(s) below) or at the door $10 - online access to view livestream (buy ticket(s) below) ** Competing poets for the Final Friday Slam consist of weekly Nuyorican Bowery Slam winners, one lottery-selected poet from the audience (sign up sheet is at the stage), and curated competitors. Poets will perform for 3 minutes or less and be judged by chosen audience members and/or curated judges. The tournament-bracket-style slam will see participants exchange their poetry head to head (matches and rounds) until only one is left and wins! Each Final Friday winner receives $100 and a nomination to compete in our annual Grand Slam for $1,000 (in December). ** ** The slam is immediately followed by the Twilight Hour Open Mic, where anyone in the audience can sign up and perform on our stage. ** NOTICE: By attending and/or participating in events by the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, you acknowledge that your voice and/or likeness may be recorded and/or photographed. ###
