This artist does not have a bio yet. John Ellis is one of New York’s premiere tenor saxophone voices. With more than 150 album credits as a sideman, John has recorded with a wide variety of artists such as Charlie Hunter, Robert Glasper, Darcy James Argue, Helen Sung, Kendrick Scott Oracle, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Sting. John was the 2nd place winner of the prestigious Thelonious Monk Saxophone Competition in 2002, he was the recipient of three composition grants through The Jazz Gallery for the creation of new work (“Dreamscapes”, “The Ice Siren”, and “MOBRO”) and he was selected as the 2014 Make Jazz Fellow by the 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica. John has released thirteen albums as a leader, three of those featuring his New Orleans-centered band Double-Wide, which has toured extensively and was featured on the Main Stage of the 2012 Newport Jazz Festival. He co-produced the music for the children’s book series “Baby Loves Jazz” with Aaron Goldberg, and he wrote the theme music for the NPR podcast, “Rough Translation.” “Say It Quiet”, his most recent album, is a collaboration with Glenn Patscha and Adam Levy. It was released on the Sunnyside record label in August of 2021. Described a "young mallet master" by JazzTimes, Sasha Berliner is an award winning vibraphonist and composer based in both the NYC and Los Angeles areas. The Downbeat Critics Poll #1 Rising Star Vibraphonist and Jazz Journalists' Association runner up for Vibraphonist of the Year has notably shared the stage for recent projects with Christian McBride, Tyshawn Sorey, Marcus Gilmore, and Cecile Mclorin Salvant, and leads her own quintet for international touring. She is also a recent faculty member at University of California Irvine and a frequent lecturing guest of CalArts, both for jazz ensemble and composition courses. Since moving to New York in 2006, he has worked with luminaries in jazz and R&B including Don Byron, Chris Potter, and Aretha Franklin, Myron Walden, Oz Noy, Bert Ligon, Micheal Dease, Wycliffe Gordon, Fred Wesley, Steve Houghton, Gordon Dick Goodwin, and Ron Westray. Drummer, composer and bandleader Kenneth Salters presents his debut album as a leader, Enter to Exit (Destiny Records). Salters has become a fixture on Manhattan’s West Village independent jazz scene and around the world as an in-demand sideman. His band is comprised of a coterie of musicians with whom Salters has surrounded himself for the better part of a decade, performing a set of originals and two emotionally significant covers that serve as a memoir to Salters’ time in New York City.
