Klara and the Sun – Film im Alamo Drafthouse Brooklyn

A Nobel Prize-winning novelist, a director known for bouncing between indie oddballery and giant studio fare, and one seriously stacked cast come together in a sweet sci-fi story. Based on Kazuo Ishiguro’s bestselling novel, Taika Waititi’s adaptation stars Jenna Ortega as Klara, an Artificial Friend looking for a home. She finds one with Josie (Mia Tharia), a teenager whose complicated relationship with her mother (Amy Adams) is shaped by grief and loss. With Natasha Lyonne, Simon Baker, and Steve Buscemi rounding out the cast, there’s plenty to root for in this futuristic family story.
